Inside the Inaugural ALX South Block Party at Bryant High School
Bryant Alternative High School came alive with music, activities, local resources, and community spirit during the inaugural ALX South Block Party. The free, family-friendly celebration brought neighbors, schools, businesses, nonprofits, and public agencies together for a day centered on connection and community.
More than 500 people attended the event, helping raise $27,482 to support United Community’s work throughout the Route 1 Corridor. Guests met representatives from more than 40 businesses and community organizations, enjoyed live entertainment and delicious food, visited the Kids Zone, participated in activities for all ages, and gathered for an exciting raffle finale.
Opening Doors for Local Families
Hosting the ALX South Block Party at Bryant Alternative High School created a special opportunity to connect families with local educational resources. United Community’s Early Learning Center is located on the building’s lower floor, allowing both schools to hold open houses alongside the Block Party.
Throughout the event, families toured classrooms, met educators, and learned more about the programs and resources available to support students at every stage—from early childhood through high school. By bringing these opportunities together in one location, the event made it easier for families to explore two important educational resources in their community.
A Community Coming Together
The Block Party was a true reflection of what can happen when an entire community comes together. Volunteers arrived early to prepare the school and continued helping throughout the day by welcoming guests, assisting vendors, staffing registration, managing the raffle, supporting the open houses, and bringing energy and fun to the Kids Zone.
Local businesses came out to meet their neighbors and strengthen their connections to the community. Nonprofits and public agencies shared valuable programs, services, and resources with local families. Cheerleaders, dance instructors, and a local church choir generously shared their talents, filling the school with music, movement, and community pride. Together, they created an atmosphere that felt like a celebration among neighbors.
