Events & Drives

Connect. Contribute. Change Lives. Give Hope.

Our fundraising events are a chance to spread hope, share joy, and transform lives.

United Community hosts special events throughout the year that raise critical support for families throughout Fairfax County.

These events lift up our entire community, helping us remove barriers to stability and building brighter futures.

Holiday Giving Tree Campaign

United Community’s Giving Tree program brings our community together to share joy and kindness during the holiday season. Trees are hosted by local businesses, organizations, and faith-based groups, each decorated with ornaments representing the wishes of children in United Community’s programs — from toys and books to warm clothes and school supplies. Members of the community are invited to choose an ornament and fulfill a child’s wish, ensuring that every child experiences the warmth and wonder of the holidays.

This campaign directly supports children and families in United Community’s early learning, afterschool, and family support programs. Your generosity helps lift the burden for parents and brings smiles to little faces across our neighborhoods. Every gift reminds families that their community cares.

If your business or organization would like to host a Giving Tree and help spread holiday cheer, please contact Cecilia Fix at cecilia.fix@unitedcommunity.org.

Thanksgiving Food Drive 2025

Because every family deserves a seat at the table.

In 2023, over 11,000 people along the Route 1 Corridor were living below the poverty line. Families are working hard, yet still face the painful question of whether there will be enough to eat tonight.

At United Community, we believe no one should have to face that choice alone, and that’s why our Thanksgiving Food Drive is so important.

Food is more than nutrition; it’s comfort, tradition, and security. Our neighbors come from many cultures, so we welcome donations like rice, lentils, beans, Maseca flour, cooking oils, and spices — items that allow families to prepare meals that feel like home. By offering culturally appropriate foods, we honor the dignity and traditions of every household we serve.

This fall, you can help ensure every family has a reason to gather in gratitude:

Back to School Drive 2025

Equipping kids. Empowering futures.

On August 14, 2025, we proudly partnered with Firefighters and Friends to the Rescue to support local students. Together, we distributed over 1,800 backpacks filled with school supplies, giving children the confidence and tools they need to succeed.

This impact was made possible through the generosity of donors, dedication of volunteers, and support of our community.

When we come together, we don’t just hand out backpacks — we open doors to brighter futures.

Join us in carrying this mission forward all year long

Note: Contributions beyond our budgeted need will support our broader mission to build thriving communities.
