Margaret Cartier serves as Chief Development Officer, overseeing United Community’s growing fundraising program, as well as marketing and communications. Margaret is a motivated and effective development and management professional with a strong record of achievement in cultivating and stewarding first-time donors and major gifts.
Prior to joining United Community, Margaret served as Associate Director of Advancement at the Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation, where she guided the organization’s capital campaign, as well as managed annual fund development. She also launched a bequest society to support future endowments.
In addition to her direct experience in philanthropy, she has well-rounded entrepreneurial and professional experiences in advocacy, marketing, and account and project management.
Margaret has a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Rhode Island, has a Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate from McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).
