Family Support Programs

Empowering families with the tools, resources, and confidence to build a better future.

Why Family Support Matters

A strong community begins with strong families — but stability doesn’t happen overnight. Many households in Fairfax County face interconnected challenges such as unreliable transportation, limited housing options, or difficulty finding jobs that pay a livable wage.

United Community’s Family Support Programs address these barriers holistically, helping families meet not just immediate needs, but build a foundation for long-term security and independence.

How United Community Helps

Our programs provide personalized support that helps families move forward with confidence. Through coaching, case management, and essential resources, we meet families where they are and guide them toward lasting stability.

Familly Achievement Program (FAP)

At the heart of our Family Support network, the Family Achievement Program combines personalized coaching with access to essential services like transportation, housing, career and employment support.

Participants work one-on-one with case managers to identify goals, build financial stability, and develop skills that support lasting independence.

Healthy Families Fairfax

United Community helps new families build strong beginnings and pathways to lasting success. Through compassionate, in-home visits, this program helps new parents nurture their children’s growth while connecting them to health care, education, and employment resources that create a strong foundation for the future.

“I would recommend to everyone that the ELC is not just the normal childcare center, it is a place where they see the children as their own. A place where no child is treated differently because of skin color or economic status.”

-S. Arias

About Our Family Support Programs

Programs serve families living in Fairfax County, with eligibility depending on the type of support needed. Our intake team helps each household navigate options.

We don’t just address one need; we look at the whole picture. Our programs are interconnected, ensuring families have access to food, housing, childcare, and career resources all under one umbrella.

By addressing root causes of instability and pairing immediate relief with education and opportunity, families are equipped to reach and maintain self-sufficiency.

Research shows that early, relationship-based support strengthens parent–child bonds, improves school readiness, and reduces the likelihood of crisis situations later on. When parents have the right tools and encouragement, children grow up healthier, safer, and more confident.
